Questionable WRX at a local BHPH lot originally listed at $16,500 last month on CL. Now asking $10,900. Quite the deflation in such a short time. Somehow this lot also had multiple Pontiac Catalina’s and a MkIV Supra. And some cars with awful decals. The heck?

This has to be the cheapest looking sticker I’ve ever seen on a luxury brand vehicle under 10 years old. The worst part is that it was originally listed in stock condition and then the stickers and platidip were added by the dealer at some point to try to help move it.

These stickers have to have be home made. The 4Runner font isn’t even close to correct.

I actually don’t hate these rims...but on a Camry?

Don’t get too excited, it’s an automatic non-turbo with damn near 150k asking $24k. Has the rare (I think) tan seats which is kind of cool I guess.

And a 1955 DeSoto because of course why wouldn’t this place also have an old DeSoto.

They are quite the auction scavengers it seems.

Yeah. I’m thinking the newer SUV’s are repos but they’ve scavenged quite the mix.

Is it wrong that I kind of want to rescue that 2nd Catalina?

Not wrong at all. These don’t get as much love as the other B-body Pontiacs (Grand Prix, Bonneville) because they were the “entry-level” model, but they still look fantastic. And let’s face it, if you’re buying a full-size 1960's GM car in 2016 you’re doing it for looks over other considerations. This one looks used, but very rescueable.

I read “MKIV Supra” and had to see. I sure hope the imports are affordable when they’re legal. I could own a decent C5 Z06 and pocket 8-10k at that price.

The vinyl graphics... I work at a vinyl shop and we have a lot of dealers that come in and ask for graphics because they say the cars sell quicker with them. We never do any that cheesy though! It’s usually factory style stripes on Challengers and Rams.

Yeah I can definitely see how some simple stripes on something like a V6 Charger would help give it some flash and move it quicker but these are total cheese. I hadn’t thought about imports might finally make prices less crazy. Apparently they sold 31,000 in Japan and 11,000 in the US (N/A and turbo total... looks like around 9,000 turbo/manual combos sold JDM) so there are a lot that could be brought over. Production started in March 1993, so we have a little more than 2 years before the earliest ones could come over.

Plus they ran in the mother country through 2002 so even if they’re initially higher, maybe I’ll be able to get my fix when I’m aged and decrepit. My issue with them is how they ALL cost so bloody much. It’s like 99-04 V6 Mustangs being expensive because 03-04 Cobras are.

I can see a 2JZGTE/V160 car costing a mint, and an auto car being considerably less, then the NA stuff being well under $10k. I just can’t see spending Terminator/C5Z/C4 ZR1/996/E46 M3/E39 M5/EVO/STI money on a slow ass, NA Supra.

Exactly. From what a friend of mine who owns a highly-modified 2JZ Lexus tells me, the reason the NA’s are so high is that it isn’t hard to convert to turbo/manual (parts are plentiful and the motor/transmission are easy to work on) and the NA’s pretty much look just like the turbo’s - so to convert and NA to a turbo-clone you don’t need to hunt down a bunch of body pieces.

I really like the stickers on that STI. That being said. 11k for a turbo charged subaru with 150k miles? No way. At least for me, I don’t know the market.

That MB sticker has to be on the worst things I’ve ever seen on a vehicle.

Yeah the STi stickers are actually pretty close to the real thing. The VIN checks out too that it is a real STi not a base WRX faking it. But the stickers don’t really add any value - its still a sub-$10k car with that many miles. Any the MB sticker is kill it with fire bad. Looks like a Pep-Boys decal on a Cavalier or something.
