I’m dieing for a long roof... my current Mk6 R has a stage 1 flash from APR but it’s not enough and the car is becoming boring.

If I find an Allroad, can they push more power? And can I live with one while not becoming broke fixing it? Does on model year have better or worse reliability?

Save me Oppo, you’re my only hope!

I never feel like a lack of power is what makes a car boring. Tried putting a stiffer sway bar on the back and better tires on it?

Old one or new one?

The newer 2.0 is pretty tough to tune.

Isn’t that like asking “can an Allroad have less reliability?”

And the answer to both questions is a firm YES.

Could it be that the Golf in general is boring? You can make something faster, but it doesn’t make it less boring.

Maybe I’ll try a new sway bar. It’s just not exciting anymore.

We have a stage 3 C5 allroad and holy cow - no car that heavy should be that fast or handle that well. It is glorious.

What’s ur bank account look like? The motor can do 500 hp but it’s gunna cost u. The suspension is $2400 if it needs a full replacement. Turbos are $3-4k exhaust is over a G. I’d still have it if I could afford if. Shitz gunna brake weekly

Hi, I’m a former MK6 Golf R owner and a current B8.5 allroad owner.

I don’t think I can go back to a hatchback. I couldn’t love my R, much like you. The allroad is very quick, but also a much more mature and grown up. It’s also way more comfortable and relaxing on the highway (where I do most of my driving).

The biggest downside to getting into an allroad from an R is that you will lose the clutch pedal. If this isn’t a deal breaker for you (it isn’t for me because my little blue car is a manual), then you will learn to appreciate the excellent ZF 8-speed tranny.

Reliability wise, I can’t say much about the B9 allroad, but the B8.5 allroad fixes the two major issues present on the B8 Avant...those issues being timing chain tensioners and oil consumption.

The B8.5 engine is a second-gen EA888 TFSI that also has flex fuel capability. So yes, you can make the allroad fast. Really fast.

The base APR flash is good for 270 horsepower. The E85 tune nets you 320 horsepower. No fiddling with fuel pumps or cam followers or anything else if you don’t want to. On E85 with a K04 turbo, the allroad is putting down around 380 horsepower.

Thanks for the info! I swooon at new Allroads... like omg. I’m not a fan of the gray wheel arch cladding but could live with it. My Wife can’t stand “wagon” but meh.

I dropped the R at the dealership this morning for the radio turning off randomly and the push to start/stop wants working on the first try anymore (second replacement of this now) oh and a weird noise coming from the rear end. I’ll never own a VW without a warranty...

Now you’ve got me researching allroads

My allroad is a 2014 that was CPO’d. It was like half the price of the new ones and had less than 10k miles on it. Love the new one but I couldn’t turn down that deal.

Like you, I can’t stand the gray body cladding...luckily mine is white and came with the color matched cladding option!

I’ll keep an eye out for sure. I just did a ton of reading. You weren’t kidding about using E85!!!

What trim level do you have?

Mine’s just a premium. But like I said, it was a deal I couldn’t ignore for a barely driven CPO’d car. I don’t miss MMI..I have my phone for nav and music.
