Not completely free, I would have to pay transport costs. It’s a bugeye wagon with 200k miles, piston slap, and a seized turbo. I do live in the NW so parts availability is good and I have a good deal of wrench time on WRX’s including engine removal and replacement. The rest of the car is in ok condition. I don’t know if it is going to be worth the money and effort to fix it and fix correctly. I don’t need the car and it would be a fifth car at this point. I would have to get rid of one, so the Accord wagon would have to go. Decisions Decisions.

FWIW, I’d have a hard time saying no to a free WRX.

Do it. Worst case you can’t get it running and instead have a bunch of WRX parts which the rally community would gobble up.

Bugeye wagons are so great and they still fetch a decent amount of money. Probably worth the effort if all it needs is a motor replacement.

It’s only worth it if you want to drive a 200,ooo mile WRX. It will cost more to rebuild than the car is worth when running. Subaru engines aren’t cheap
