Strong language and personal complaints may occur after a few safety images...
I FUCKING hate Saturdays. For over a year now my dealership has decided that service needs to be open Saturdays for customer satisfaction. That’s fin and all, but it is like 10 appointments (open 8am to 2pm). Most of these appointments are Subaru prepaid maintenance so we make no money. I swear it costs more money to keep my departments lights on than we make let alone everyone’s pay and other lights etc. Fine whatever, but I am the only parts guy on Saturday, I work 6 days a week, and I am not hourly... I used to be, but when I went to commision, I kept working Saturdays. It sucks ass and is probably one of the main reasons I am unhappy. But the icing on the cake in that yesterday my clutch starting acting weird. So I drove it home last night and back to work today and its all fucked. There is a hydraulic leak of one of the cylinders is failing. Either way the slave cylinder needs to be replaced I think, now the master probably too. The best part is GM decided that an internal hydrolic slave/throwout bearing was the way to go, so the trans has to be dropped to replace it so I might as well do the clutch too. Well that is $1300 in parts if all the lines are ok and then labor on top of that because I don’t have a garage to do the work myself. Or the stupid tool to bleed the system cause GM. So there is like $300+ in labor making it about $1600 I don’t really have... Fucking welcome to vehicle ownership eh?
Few, rant over, thanks I really just needed to vent that.

Seriously...
10 appointments= 3 half hour recalls + 5 prepaid services + 2 customer services...
Whoopty freaking hoo. If I didn’t need to pay for things, I would walk out. Thank god for Oppo entertainment and Youtube.,

Which GM product do you have? Those parts seem excessively expensive.

2006 GTO. Those prices are actually upgrading to the LS7 Clutch and flywheel because its cheaper then replacing with OE.

Indeed. To combat the absolute knowledge sucking conversations my coworkers are having, today I am watching a lot of episodes of Engineering Connections with Richard Hammond

I would have figured the LS/T56 combo was so common that prices would be driven down. Then again even the lightest duty clutch is probably rated to at least 500ft/lbs

Yeah and these prices are with my dealer employee discount. $1500 in parts regularly. Though this is the clutch & cover asm cause GM doesn’t sell them separate, flywheel, slave cylinder/throwout bearing, and master cylinder.

Yeah I mean I get it from a Customer view, but it sucks soooo hard working 6 days a week for bupkis.

I hear you. Why’d you switch to commission? I can’t see that being terribly profitable at a Subaru dealer.

We are GMC, Cadillac, Buick, Subaru, and Hyundai. And it is overall parts sales, not just my sales, so that’s nice. No competition in here that way.
Plus we are the only Subaru dealer in like 200 miles, so we get all of them.

Most of our business is our own service department. In this county we are the only Subaru Dealer so we get any person who wants factory parts and 90% of body orders, we are 1 of 2 Hyundai dealers and according to our customers the other one sucks so we get a decent amount of their business, but we don’t quite like that, but we are 1 of 7 GM dealers in the county (the only Cadillac and Buick one though) and all GM dealers can get parts for every line (including Hummer, Pontiac, and Saturn, but no SAAB) so the main GM business we get are from dealer loyal customers and shops that prefer to use us, which is a surprising amount, but then again we try not to hire assholes.
