Inspired by Thunderbolt’s Telecaster post, I hereby declare this Geetar Friday.  This is my beloved ‘77 Gibson Ripper, which my dad handed down to me when I was 10 or so. It’s standard and has never been refinished. You might recognize it as the bass played by Krist Novoselic from Nirvana, and Mike Dirnt from Green Day early on. I play drums and suck at bass, but love this thing to bits.

Whoa, that’s super cool. Literally had no idea that existed. I love that it’s string thru to like a tuneomatic and not a wraparound. What a neat bass.

That’s badass! I had no idea, I thought it was a really pretty abalone look full pick guard from the pic. A great looking axe with a party trick, I love it.

Thanks! I really dig its classic look too. It’s supposed to have a stylized “Ripper” script piece on the headstock but my dad took it off right after buying it because it was too flashy. The guard is prone to cracking because the knobs mount to it and not the body, but it’s fun.
