No doubt it’s headed towards a concours restoration so it can look like every other Aston DB4. Psssh. Condition is actually pretty good. It’s going up for sale at the upcoming Scottsdale auction where it’s expected to sell for $425,000 or so.

Something about “long blocks from $35k” really bothers me. I’d rather go with a Hartley or something for that kind of money. Hell, how much are old Ferrari engines?

Yeah, I’d rather have that too, but I was specifically talking about things like the Colombo.

So why V12 LS? $35k LS kind of defeats the purpose of LS.

If it’s going to be cleaned up and painted, it should be in Plum Crazy to add some variety, sez I. With a vinyl top.

My great uncle (now deceased) had tons of old cars strewn about a couple of old properties. I didn’t know what “hoarding” was as a little kid, but looking back on it now, he was a textbook hoarder.

I remember sitting in his old, rusty, run down 1933 Hudson Terraplane in his garage. I had to climb over piles of cool old junk just to climb in the thing. I remember the huge steering wheel and the bouncy seats. It’s a miracle I didn’t get tetanus or get bitten by rattlesnakes in that old garage. My Mom just let me run around all the old piles of rusty cars. Good times for an 8 year old.

He used to drive around in a 4 door clapped out baby blue 1955 Chevy. All the seats except the drivers seat were filled with old newspapers. Only the driver could get in the thing. It’s sad that he never got help for his condition. I was too little to know what his deal was. And I guess the adults around me didn’t understand, or didn’t want to understand either.

When he passed away all the property went into probate and got sold off via auctions. I never saw any of his old cars again.

I know he had multiple 1950's Chevy’s, that old Hudson, and God-knows what other cars and miscellaneous car stuff stashed away at his house and 2 farm properties.

Not as cool as a Ferrari anything, Hartley V8, or bespoke something else though.

I am not a fan of cars that are restored to a level beyond what they would’ve been new, but with that being said, I still prefer to see cars like this restored.

I just want to know the story behind it.

Also, my little sister’s high school boyfriend’s parents have a V12 E-type sitting behind their garage. Wonder if it’s still there. I haven’t seen it since about 2005.

*Edit*

Just looked on Google and Bing maps (Bing’s got a better “Birds Eye” view than Google Earth) and it’s still there.

When they still look presentable from, say, 5 feet away, I say leave them original, but when they’re further gone than that, restore away. Restore back to factory standards, that is, not over restored to be better than factory. If something wasn’t chrome plated from the factory, don’t chrome it.
