It’s okay to be wrong.

Edit: I will say, one thing jeep has done consistently well over the years is wheels. I’m always following the Jeep wheels search on the local CL.

Yup. It’s okay that everyone posting Land Rovers today was wrong.

As a Jeep owner, I don’t really see the two as comparable anymore. If Land Rover came out with a 4wd capable truck for under $30k then we’d have something to talk about. People who spend $60k on a Jeep are throwing money away. The whole point of a Jeep is cheap offroad capability. If you have the coin then buy an outfitted Land Cruiser.

I’ve been a Cherokee kid since before Cherokee kids were a thing. Stock for stock, an old Rover to an old Jeep is no contest. The Rovers are just, better. You can get Discos for cheaper than XJs currently, and they do everything better except for fuel mileage and speed.

Except that’s not true. I can pick up grandpa’s old XJ with very little work needed to make it roadworthy for $500, and it will be perfectly reliable. Can’t for the life of me find a Disco at all right now, but there isn’t a single LandRover selling for less than $4000 on my local classifieds, and those are pretty rough Freelanders. Maybe it’s opposite in your market, but LR’s are exotic here and command a high dollar because of that.

But to be honest my Niva will kick the pants off both Jeeps and Rover’s off-road so... ¯\_()_/¯

I don’t know what the market is like up there at all. My buddy is all-in on a 5 speed Disco on 33s for for just under $2k, drives great. I should sell mine up there then.

And Nivas are kickass, so yea.
