Whats better: You Do Not Need or Man’s Last Stand?

I prefer Alfa’s less sex oriented version. But predator is still the best car commercial.

At work but have you seen the Fiat commercials (since were on on the topic of FCA) with the old man needing to get “excited” so he hops out of bed in his night gown and rips around town and then hes “ready for action” so he jumps back in bed. Saw it playing at the auto show and had a WTF moment.

Reasons Alfa’s version is better:

The car

The audio

The scenery

Dodge’s version makes this guy sound like a middling victim who maintains a cringe-worthy belief that the patriarchy is being destroyed, or at least that his life is hard.

Dodge’s version is an attempt at humor. Alfa takes more of a bold approach by saying outright, “you don’t need this car”

I don’t want to be anything like those guys in the Dodge commercial

I want to be everything like the guy in the Alfa commercial

Fiat 500L commercial still wins but Predator is a close second. Very few things have made me laugh like the Fiat commercial

Didnt think about it, but yea just flat out saying “you don’t need this car” is pretty bold.

Something I love about it is it that anyone looking at this car has heard this line before. Acknowledging it and playing to it is powerful. My girlfriend has been giving me a hard time lately about the car I want to buy because, “I don’t need it”. I just sent her this. Great ad.

Didn’t know! But also that guy sucks. Who stands on one side of the aisle and reaches across for something on the other side?

I love FCA marketing. Its unabashed unapologetically masculine broness .

Life in most of the western world is all about emasculation these days. Might as well start taking estrogen and hoping your genitals shrink. Everyone dislikes men being men.

The 500L is such a terrible car, though. When you realize that, the commercial just looks sad.

If by emasculation you mean not being a knuckle-dragging ape, then yea. Sorry it’s been hard on you and your knuckles.

It’s a pretty great commercial, and I think that FCA’s ad agency is exactly what Alfa needs to get noticed.

I never understood why the Dodge ad was for the Charger. If the message of your ad is ‘Life hasn’t turned out the way you want, and you do a lot of boring shit you don’t want to do for the sake of domestic tranquility, so you should get your balls back by having a mid-life crisis and buying a sports car’ why isn’t it for the Viper?

Or, if you say, well, the Viper sells itself by being the Viper, why not the Nitro, their attempt at out-Hummering Hummer? Why the Charger?

(Remember this is before the Hellcat)

nahhh...

porsche did it better without helicopters, closed public roads or go-fast boats, and in 60 fewer seconds.

all you need is a concept and some opposite lock!
