Shed 4 : The sheddening

Welcome to part 4 of my 4 part series on a shed. Super exciting, I know. Also, looking for others’ input at the end.

It’s been essentially done for a week, but I left town under cover of night mere hours after finishing the shingles, and didn’t take a pic until today.

It’s already faced wind, rain and snow. So far so good. I’ll get solar powered lighting installed next week, and final touch ups and paint in the Spring. The ramp followed !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ’s design, and it’s rock solid.

Who else has done this? What did you regret after the fact? What did you mess up? I’ve already got a list in my head. Mainly related to material quality and issues from a lack of experience.

Yeah, I’m going with a couple sets of flush mount deck lights. They’ll fit into the framing well, and I can run them through a regular wall switch with two little roof panels.

That was a thought I had too. I went with a pre-cut kit, though, and there was a big jump from this to the next size. Long term, i want to add a ‘car port’ on the side for some weather protection for rougher projects.

Similar situation here. I actually got a rubber shed, and the next size up was a lot more expensive. I want to ultimately add a 3rd stall to my garage, so I went with a shed I could move later.

i’m not a builder , nor do i live in the U.S. but (to me anyway) why the odd shaped roof?

why not have a peaked roof? like this one......

then instead of shingles, just fit colour-bond sheeting?

or is there planning regs where you are?

The single peak roof is a gable roof. This is a gambrel roof, which is common on utility buildings because it provides extra space for a loft and for tall items.

This has a 32sq ft loft in the rear. As for the roofing material, I’m in an HOA, and asphalt shingles are required.
