No not that one. This one happened last night. And not in the snowy high Andes, but in the hills outside Medellin.
A Brazilian soccer team was on board a chartered RJ85. Possibly a few survivors out of the 75 or so on board.

I’ve been following this tragic story. I’m guessing they ran out of fuel. It looks like they were holding, and there was no fire at the crash site. Once they recover the recorders, it should be a pretty quick investigation. Bad CRM? I hope not.

Brutal. I had heard that they were a Cinderella story kind of team.

I guess it is a pretty big deal in Brazil.

I had read something about electrical issues. I can’t remember where I read it though. The same plane had also flown Lionel Messi and the Argentine National Team at one point.

They were being called the Leicester City of Brazil. They were on the way to the biggest match the club had ever been able to play in. One of the players found out he was going to be a dad a week ago.
It reminds me so much of the plane crash thatkilled The Marshal football team and the Munich Air Disaster that killed several members of Manchester United.

All the news stories are reporting electrical issues. That could be just about anything. And, if you are mistakenly convinced that you have fuel, and the gauge reads E, then you might assume it’s an electrical issue. Of course, this is nothing but speculation on my part.

True. Still too soon to know anything. Just read this from NBC.
“The British Aerospace Avro RJ85 had 81 people on board. According to data from Flightradar , it had flown around 1848 miles from the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz.
The RJ85's range is around 1842 miles when equipped with standard fuel tanks, according to Airliners.net. This jet’s configuration was not immediately clear.”

Simple math there. It looks like the airliner was holding for some reason. Immediate speculation is that nobody was paying attention to the gas gauge.

Read this on the Beeb first thing this morning, horrible news. Glad there were at least a few survivors, apparently, but I can’t imagine what the rest of the club’s personnel, family and fans are going through.

Yep. I’m a big United fan (fuck Mourinho though) and that was the first thing that popped into my head when I read about this.
