I went out on my lunch break today, turned a corner, and did a double-take when I saw this: Peugeot 107 hatch! Naturally, it was rocking diplomat plates. One of the great things about living in the DC area is that you see a lot of unusual diplomat cars from overseas.

Neat! I love seeing cars like that over here. Saw a 1007 at a show a few years ago, still no idea how it got to Nebraska.

If you had to choose any car to bring from Europe, why a base model 107? At least they are reliable because they share parts with Toyota, but it’s still a weird choice.

What kind of diplomat drives a 107?

They drive all kinds of things, like this Audi A3:
I’ve seen diplomat plates on Corollas, 7-Series, and everything in between. Also, a lot of minivans, for some reason.

But that A2 is a really rare and interesting car, the 107 is actually pretty boring. The other cars are sold in the US so I guess they wanted to be able to mantain them in the dealerships.

A diplomat not in a G-wagen or S-class or X5 etc? What’s the world coming to? Must not be from one of the ‘stans.

I’m afraid that’s mostly the stuff of Hollywood movies. Most diplomats drive boring-ass cars like your typical average Joe.

Naturally I meant A2, not A3. Sorry, I’m tired.

Maybe they are laying low in DC. My last jaunt to Geneva had a lot of flaunting by that sector, but maybe the UN types are different.
Anyway, cool to see, exciting, like on the blue moon when I spot a Mexican-plated SEAT on the west coast (seen a couple now).

Oooh, a 107!
Hired one once, with the automated manual box. It was fine.

Agree with the others; if you’re going overseas a cramped and underpowered (by American standards) A-segment city car seems like the least likely (and pleasant) choice. Why not something comfy like a V6 Vel Satis? At least they have Nissan VQ engines if anything goes wrong...
Plus nothing screams “classy” quite like Le Quement’s Renault-Butt.
