But why?
Why the Miata? If you wanted to ruin a two-seat sports car, why not use an old Vette? The C3 is fairly terrible already. That would have been a better choice than hacking a perfectly good Miata to bits.

But a slushbox Miata could be turned into one with a sequential trans and a bike engine.
Basically the owner wanted something with two seats and lots of power to haul that trailer. Sounds like they should have just gotten some beater truck and hacked the top off. Would have worked just as well.

My point is, this was likely done by somebody in a shed in Florida, on a budget. Besides, most good Miatas are completely not stock anyways. Also, doesn’t the body get thrown out for an Exocet?

Just because it can pull it does not mean it can stop it. What truly dictates towing capacity is more than just pure power. I would not like to be anywhere near that thing on the road.
