That’s why I’m thankful to be Canadian, where Thanksgiving is in October and by November everyone is like “screw it, have some sales”.

It isn’t even the day after anymore. It’s the same day.

Came here to say the same thing. By the end of the decade, Black Friday will start Wednesday morning. By 2030, it will start at 3:31:pm on the Friday before Thanksgiving.

And then, 24 hours later, the gasoline wars will start, and a Mel Gibsonesque police officer will lose his family.

Hell. In the U.K. we’ve had Black Friday Week deals, etc... and we don’t even have or celebrate Thanksgiving for goodness sakes.

Some used to do the Black Friday on the Friday but stopped as it was a security and legal nightmare of people getting hurt, stealing in the chaos, etc...

Well Thanksgiving originally led to a horrific event.

Tradition is tradition.

But ye’, I always thought it odd to celebrate, ‘being thankful for what we have’ and then, ‘right, we need to be up early to camp out front of a supermarket to get as much stuff as possible for reduced prices before anyone else does’.

We bought a new TV last weekend. The store we got it from had started Black Friday pricing the weekend before.
