My family is staying at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX, which is within spitting distance of DFW and right on the approach for runway 18R. Unfortunately, the clouds you seen in the photos preceded a cold front which switched us to a northerly wind. That means that the airplanes are going in the opposite direction and not coming in low over the hotel. Still makes for a good show, just not very good photography. Pics are a little fuzzy, since they are taken through double pane glass. My son and I are heading to Founder’s Plaza this afternoon for some outdoor plane spotting.

You need to invite me over sometime. I’ll bring the beers and a camera.

Back in my day there weren’t nothing there. Hwy 121 and empty fields. No fancy malls or hotels and we liked it *shakes fist*

there is an official spotting park and there is a rad unofficial spot a la Wayne’s World style. My place is by the huge cargo plane side. Anything flying right above my house is landing withing 30 seconds. From little things to full cargo stuff. Just a short climb on my roof and bingo :]

That dagnabbit contraption will never fly. If God wanted humans in the sky He’d have given us wings.

I may or may not have taken a picture of your airplane. My son and I were at the airport plane spotting this afternoon.
