Depends on the context in which the idea exists.

If you want a car that works, then it scores 10 on your scale, as long as it’s a logarithmic, Richter-scale kind of measure where 10 is astronomically bad, and 8 or 9 is already very shitty.

If you’re looking for pure comedic value in a car for $850 I think you’d be hard-pressed to find an alternative to this one, and would score a one on a regular scale of one to ten. The fact that he says the transmission and motor are good and that it still starts and runs makes me very curious about how much has gone wrong with this car.

My mom has one exactly like that. Here is a list of things wrong with it:

Only one sunroof opens

Rear left window is completely broken

Rear right window only opens with switch on door, not driver’s switch

Cruise control busted

Fog lights busted

Horn busted

Hazards busted (yet turn signals work?)

T-case is frozen in 4hi

Gauge binnacle is loosely attached to dash

Interior lights busted

High pitched whistle when idling

Passenger electric seat busted

Center switch panel is loose

Electric mirrors busted

ABS busted intermittently

SRS light on

A/C busted

And this is just what I can remember off the top of my head.

Ask yourself -what would you pay for a nice one? And could you throw that much on top of purchase at this one (plus all your free labor) to get to that point?

My boss has one—loves it. It started as a decent body-but needed head gaskets. (very common) I freshened the engine and surfaced the heads. Since then (3 years ago) any day with 3 or less lights on the dash is considered a good day. I’ve changed: (I’m sure I’m blocking some from my mind)

At least 6 wheel speed sensors (like $200 each!)

Multiple calipers. One rear more than once.

Coil packs. (You won’t believe how much of a bitch of a job that is!)

Radiator

Thermostat-more than once.

ABS pump (thank god we had a parts car)

Windshield washer nozzles-a few times.

The engine block (yes I had to do another engine-one of the iron cylinder sleeves in the aluminum block shifted -pressurizing the cooling system.)

Switches-a few.

And in true Doug Demuro fashion-still proclaims its a great vehicle.
