$40 sensor put me on the side of the highway and would not start back up. Disconnected the battery to reset everything and get back home. Part is on its way but I still I have no idea what to buy next.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I might just go buy that Miata Club. Doesn’t sound as good as the Fiata, but $5k is $5k.

That Miata looks good in black/black. That Fiata though, those things have a ton of presence.

I feel the same about the Fiata, imho it just looks special . The Miata is clearly good, but the hipster inside of me would die a little.

The Miata is better. It looks better, it weighs less, it is just as fast, and it gets better gas mileage.

Looks are subjective, but yea its the answer for a reason.

I liked the idea of keeping my rebodied chassis trend going though.

You are right. I’m just one of those guys who believes all Honda’s are bulletproof even though I have never owned one. I also have an itch for an S2K so there is that bias as well. I also own a 15 year old German car, so 10 years on a Japanese car is pretty much brand new to me.

The only one you posted that has a good chance of going up in value is the S2000. Get it, treat it well and then sell it for what you paid in 5-10 years.

350Zs are meh even in Nismo form, that S2k has a giant scuff on the front bumper and they’re super cramped inside.

With the amount of driving youve said you do, I’d go with the Miata. Generally thought to be reliable and still in warranty. Ive heard not great things about higher mile fiat 1.4t engines, which I tend to believe after the trouble I had eith my Fiat.

My roommate hasn’t had any problems with his but he also drives a lot less than I do. It would suck to buy the Fiata and then be out of warranty in less then 3 years. 50k miles max is BS.

I was all ready to vote s2k... but that ND miata may change my mind. It’s supposed to finally be as quick as the s2k, which is quick enough. If you can afford it, I’d go ND.

Someone mentioned the s2k appreciating. Yeah, sure, some might. But already at 80k and then you daily drive it? Yours won’t. Plus, you said you don’t want to deal with fixing it. Yeah, I’m thinking you need an ND.

Yea the whole sudden car dying at 80mph and having to cross 4 lanes of highway traffic at 8:30am wasn’t really fun. Obviously I could have looked into what I should replace on the Crossfire earlier. But if someone said “$40 now and save yourself a headache later” I’d be down.

Yea I’m with you on all points. Test driving a ND is next on my list, but its not like it won’t be a fun car, its a Miata. Also for as many miles as I put on the interior being that much nicer will actually make a difference.

Ha yea, no I won’t do that. I am jealous you actually get out and racing the thing. Something I need to get my ass in gear about doing.

I’m just having an existential crisis on how much I value driving something different VS how much I want to pay/be under the hood.

To be fair I’ve probably mentioned crank sensors on here at least a few times. But I never really explained beyond that, or that such a thing would be applicable to you or your car. Oh well.

I have no experience with new BMW’s to confirm or deny that claim but both of my old ones are/were dead reliable.

Also what’s going to happen to the crossfire?

Kinja'd!!! Milky > AMGtech - now with more recalls!

Its a small part and I can easily see it getting lost in convo. Doesn’t hurt that I take my car to normal shops that see 95% ‘murican cars and wouldn’t know. But hey, parts on it way and I’ll just Lift to work.

Kinja'd!!! Milky > Flyboy is FAA certified insane
11/21/2016 at 23:44

Kinja'd!!!0

I think as they got more complicated they got less reliable. I kinda just want my old Lexus’ reliability ... but don’t want a Sc430, lol.

I’ll trade it in, or Autotrader it if they don’t offer me enough for it. It hasn’t been bad , but in less than a year it would 200k miles on it, if I keep driving it.

Honestly, just wait until depreciation hits those Fiats. I guarantee you won’t regret it. I went to see one of the first Fiat 124s in Mexico a couple weeks ago. The excitement was unprecedented, right until the point where I saw the auto and the salesman told me they were only going to offer autos for now.

Either way, wait for a used one, that’s what I’d do.

Kinja'd!!!0

Yea I don’t want to be the one to take $10k in depreciation just becasue its a Fiat. Hell I bet I could buy that ^ ND, put 20k miles on it in a year. Then straight trade it for a lower mileage Abarth.

The availability of manuals here is stupid too. We have them at least, but within 100 miles of me there are 21, 124 spiders. 2 are manuals.

Would not of thought of that. I do remember some person on the forum saying it was heat sensitive too. That confuses the shit out of me. I’m honestly just not going to mess with it until the sensor comes in. Just hoping thats actually whats wrong with it.
