So Friday my car decided it didn’t want to car anymore. Got it on a scanner Saturday and determined the #3 cylinder is misfiring. Not what I wanted with the holidays coming up.
Ignition coils are relatively cheap at least, but I won’t have time to do anything myself. Thankfully my wife knows a guy who runs a shop that works on German cars and my parents have an extra vehicle for me to use until I can get it fixed.
Just one more thing on top of all the other stuff I am dealing with right now.

That is a pain. I had an ignition coil go in in the E46, less than $150 installed. So at least its not a terribly expensive surprise.

Meanwhile, my stupid GM van misfires regularly, and I wish it would tell me with a code, but it keeps on doing it anyway waiting to get worse. At least your car likes to talk to you.

Actually after doing a little research, I think I may just do it myself. Was thinking it would take a lot longer than what it seems to take. If I can get it done in a couple of hours, I can order the part and get it done this weekend.

So is it not throwing a code when it does that? When’s the last time the plugs and wires were changed?

Likely factory parts, it’s my beater utility Uplander at 90,000kms. I already ordered plugs/wires to remedy it, just irritating that I can’t just get a code to help track down one misfire. I like to just repair what’s specifically wrong, but it’s due.
