But he has finally fully committed himself now!
He currently has a 2012 VW Caravelle Executive bi-turbo 4-Motion with DSG (due to be replaced next year with a new one, that one he is easy with).
A 2015 Land Rover Defender 110 Landmark, which he bought to replace his perfectly good 2009 XS. The problem is his wife won’t drive it cos it’s a bit of pain, plus he worries about ruining it cos it’s value has shot up, it’s now worth far more than he bought it for and as it just sits there looking (very) pretty most of the time, it has to go. He ordered a new Disco Sport HSE Black a month or so ago, which his wife would drive and could be her car mostly (she currently has a leased 2016 Astra 1.6 turbo Sri which is going back).
Anyway, he also wanted an EV for running the kids about etc and was looking at used Nissan Leaf’s and Renault Zoe’s, they would have been fine. He stupidly showed her the BW i3 and she likes BMW’s (she still misses her 2007 118d she had a few years ago and the E46 330ci M-Sport they had before they had kids), so he got one for a 24hr test, with a view to finding a nice used one. To cut to the chase they now have a new range extender, optioned up one being built as I type!
As the i3 is a lot bigger and more usable as a family car than they were expecting, it made the Disco Sport a bit pointless and expensive, so he cancelled it, got his deposit back and started his search for a smaller, cheaper and fun 4X4 (they live in North Wales and do get snowed in every now and then so need something that can cope with that in emergencies, he always equips his 4X4's with more suitable rubber for his needs when he gets them).
Anyway, after much pestering of me by him (his new car purchases are always as involved for me as my own are for some reason!), he has just ordered a new Jeep Renegade Trail Hawk 2.0d in orange, he got an amazing deal on it (like 20% off) and it gets delivered at the end of the month, hopefully on the 30th when we are at the free off road day that comes with it, the dealer is going to try and deliver it to us at the Jeep off road centre.
Sorry for the long post but I just wanted people to know what I have to put up when my brother decides to change his cars, he should be good now for 2 or 3 years, though he does keep mentioning a Suzuki SJ10 that someone he knows is selling cheap (it’s a 92 I think) that he wants for doing some proper off roading with me and his kids!

I’m going to be the dick that says it but,.
I thought he wanted something to off-road with? then why did he buy a renegade? its a fiat 500L for crying out loud.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe people believe that trail rated badge.
Why didn’t he get a used Defender?

a used defender, a disco, a RR, a BMW X5 ffs. why not an actual wrangler (they do sell those in europe right?) nissan patrol, mitsubishi Pajero, toyota land cruiser/LC prada.
SO many choices for an actual off roader...and he went with Jeep you cant lift.

He doesn’t want it for any serious off roading, some light green laning etc, his current Defender has seen nothing heavier than driving up that mound of soil in the picture I posted, he is after an old Suzuki to abuse off road, as I said.
And anyway, the Renegade in TH spec with some decent tyres (which he will stick on it) are more than capable.

I know, I struggle to keep up!
The Defender is going (for a healthy profit on what he paid new a year ago), so is the Astra, the Caravelle is due to be replaced next year. So he is getting a new i3 and Renegade and maybe the, currently none running, Suzuki, mostly to trash off road and teach his son how to work on cars.

It’s not a Ranger Rover it’s a Defender, and while it is a very nice and plush Defender, it still drives like farm vehicle!
