Starter does its thing, so the battery is fine. Must be spark or fuel. waiting for the ADAC now. I’ll keep you updated.

Update: Hairline fracture in the distributor cap gave the spark an alternative way. Painted the inside and outside of the area and scratched residue off the pins. Runs again. Looking for a distributor cap online, now.

What’s the car? When I was pulling my chevelle out of its 4-year storage nap, the battery would take a charge and crank, but wasn’t strong enough to simultaneously fire the ignition coil while cranking.

‘99 Accord. Ran fine yesterday, and the day before, and the day...

My ‘11 Jeep failed to start yesterday, but nothing was turning over. Took the battery out to have it tested, it was good, put the battery back in and it fired up. Terminals were on tight when I removed it. It was strange.

Get the battery tested before doing anything.

My buddy’s 92 Accord would crank but not run one time. Had accessory, start postition worked, but car would die as soon as you disengaged the starter. Turns out the ignition switch was bad.

Potential bad ignition coils?

Side note. I wish the UK equivalent of ADAC, The AA, was as good as ADAC at industry research.

You know this is the universe telling you it is time to buy an E61, right?

I know. That was the second hiccup in a little over four years, so it’s clear that reliability is going downhill. I have bookmarked several E61s on mobile.de. My current favorite is in Nürnberg (700 kms away), if it’s still for sale come christmas time I’ll pull the trigger.

Sounds like my crown vic, which for about 2 months a couple years ago would randomly either not crank (but dash lights worked) or be totally dead when I tried to start it. the solution was opening the hood and banging on the wiring harness.

That are impressively little problems for a 17 year old car to be honest.

Let’s hope that E61 is still for sale in a month’s time then.

Yep, same deal. Dash lights worked, but nothing else happened.

I agree with BvdV, you should get an E61. Look how they look on LMs.

Interesting, those two are cars without the chrome trim around the side windows, yet with the roof rails. Rare combo.
