I was just thinking about how The New Pornographers have so much wrapped up in their Indy-Hipster Image that their videos are nearing repulsive (and certainly unwatchable) in their levels of self-important pseudo-artiness, but damn if the music isn’t fucking excellent.
case in point ^
and then I thought about other too-hipster-for-thier-own-good-bands-that nonetheless make good music and I was reminded that this is 6 years old... god, where does the time go...?
/implied invitiation to talk about bands that annoy you but you listen to anyway ‘cuz the music doesn’t blow, or discuss where the time goes...

I don’t really see it in that particular video, but I do know that any hipster worth their salt wouldn’t be caught dead listening to the fucking New Pornographers. If they were a bunch of Latvian farmers playing homemade instruments and recording in a cow barn, maybe.

Yeah, I know what you’re saying. All that feels like lamer versions of shit that’s in better, but still not good, videos. It’s not aimed at hipsters, but people who want to think they’re a little hip, but not too hip because they’re not “elitists.” Which is just another form of elitism if you ask me.
