For something with a Made in China sticker*
PDI’d an Envision today. It seemed mid-trim (leather with cloth inserts, no crash avoidance, large center screen but no nav, dual power seats but no memory) with the 2.5L EcoTec.
I was incredibly surprised with how well put together it all was. And that’s not just because of its country of origin. Everything felt extremely solid and incredibly nice to touch.
The 2.5L was nice as well. Smooth and quiet and moved the car pretty well. I honesty thought it was the turbo at first until I went to park it and noticed it only had one exhaust tip.
Overall 9/10 would shop against Acura RDX/Lexus NX/Lincoln MKC
*could not actually find a made in china sticker

Sometimes it’s not about where it’s built but how much is spent on QC. iPhones are built in China and the same Foxconn factory makes other crap too.

I find it funny how GM has intentionally not advertised these because of where they are made and certain newfound polticians’ apparent disdain for products made outside of the U.S.

I’ve seen commercials for them before, though now that I think about not lately. Apparently they’re selling pretty decently from what I’ve heard.

They’ve done a few commercials for it (there’s one where a baby won’t sleep so his dad takes him for a drive in their Envision), but they intentionally left it out of reviewers’ hands.

Huh, I was wondering why it took so long for reviewers to write anything.

There’s a brown, fully specced example in my condo building. Before it came out I made jokes about the fit and finish but now, all I can say is *slow clap*

Midsize crossover that slots between the Encore egg and the big beluga whale Enclave.

Good question, because it’s not like the rest of the lineup follows any sort of theme.

I know this is a tangent, but I’m pretty sure the Encore/Trax is my least favorite automobile ever made. I’ve never felt such hatred for a car in my life. People who own them don’t even seem to be bad drivers as a whole. My hatred is completely irrational, and yet I despise them with every ounce of my being. Just seeing one in traffic makes me want to steal candy from a child and kick their puppy. When I see one, life just seems meaningless. I become convinced that there is no afterlife, only the cessation of all matter and consciousness, and that that’s a good thing, because the memory of the Encore/Trax won’t be able to follow me to the grave.

I used to not like them at all, same with the Terrain/Equinox, but working on at least one every day has made them grow on me a little bit. They aren’t that terrible of a car. Slower than all getup, but not bad. Not something I would personally buy, though.
