You crack me up.
A few years ago I was abating the asbestos containing linoleum from some apartments. We didn’t have to remove glue, but all the paper had to go. What a pain in the ass. I got so pissed in a kitchen closet like that I hammer it all up so the contractor had to repour a couple bags of concrete in there.

The lino was glued directly on concrete? No plywood?

Yeah it was all lightweight concrete poured on plywood. The bitch was it would look ok until you sprayed more chemicals on floor then paper would turn dark green over the yellow glue. Then more razor scraping. It sucked.

Yuck.
I made the mistake of trying to razor scrape lino off of plywood once. The blades kept digging in and gouging the wood. Next time we encountered lino, we were prepared to simply cut the seams and carry out 4x8 sheets with the lino still attached. Couldn’t be bagged, of course. Had to wrap it all in poly.

The only story here is how anyone can call this a proper closet. I’m not sure what the rule of thumb is, but I swear that as long as it’s coat-deep and a minimum of 3' wide, it can be called a “bedroom.” Though if you own more than 2 coats, you’re gonna be SOL.
