“No, you may
not
have a cracker this morning because you were a
bad dog.”
Oh, goody! May I have it now? What if I sat here and drooled?

What kind of mythical shadow creature is in the background? I can’t tell if that’s another animal or dirty laundry.

My dog pouts when she is in trouble. Just like a kid. She’ll pout and not look at us for hours.

We came home to find 2 muddy paw prints on the counter. Dog decided to act completely innocent even though the mail had been strewn across the backyard.

Innocent? It’s interesting. They have no capacity to connect with their earlier actions, but they pick up on a change in our disposition toward them and we attribute the response anthropomorphically. These are my wife’s dogs and I definitely have a relationship with them, but I is not a dog peoples.
