Okay, honestly, she didn’t have any sort of exceptional career. She was, however the first, and so far only, transgender woman ever to race professionally. The weirdest part, though, is that she actually was kind of transphobic herself, calling others who transitioned after her freaks.
But hey, it’s still cool to read about a trans woman who did something with cars other than scam a bunch of people for once.

In the interests of openness I should let you know we have a transgender individual on Oppo and as far as I know they’ve never scammed a bunch of people.

A badass, but not sure what you mean about the scam bit?

Can you provide some clarification on your scam comment?

Can’t remember her name, but the person who “created” the Dale was also a transgender woman.

The Dale.

That’s the only other instance I know where car culture and trans culture have significantly overlapped.

I should have been more clear. I’m referring to Geraldine Carmichael and the Dale.

Ok, I thought that’s what you were talking about. The coverage of which was pretty grossly transphobic, btw: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2012/12/09/automobiles/excerpt-historys-greatest-automotive-mysteries-myths-and-rumors-revealed.html?_r=0&referer=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/

Yeah, I’ve heard.
Still, even with how much progress we have yet to make, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come since then.
