Kinja'd!!!

It was spotted in Washington by someone else (posted with permission). It looks like a British Columbia plate, meaning that it could be almost anything from anywhere in the world up until 2001.

It appears to be RHD, so likely Japanese or UK market. I would estimate the age to be 1994-2000.

I’ve pored over Wikipedia, Google and a 150-page Japanese language print magazine about 1990's cars, with no luck. I’m usually good at this...

It’s a JDM facelifted second-gen 1990-1994 Mazda/Autozam Carol! :D

Neat little forbidden fruit Kei car....they aren’t as common in Japan from that gen, so they are even less common on the Canadian West Coast, even amongst all the imports. The Carol was based on Suzuki’s Alto platform and was built by Suzuki for Mazda.

Should mention I knew right away as I have a thing for Kei cars :P
I’ve always liked the front fascia treatment on this gen of Carol with the fogs in the front area between the headlights, but with the grill set in the lower bumper!

It’s actually not badged a Suzuki, but the Carol was based on Suzuki’s Alto platform and produced by Suzuki for Mazda.

Typical. I even looked at the Alto wiki page and didn’t see anything. I didn’t realize the Carol nameplate carried on that long either.

The Carol nameplate still lives on today, in fact, also still based on Suzuki’s Alto platform, coincidentally:

That’s excellent. Japan may be the best country for special edition cars, what with weird names and Mitsuoka and stuff.
