"Logansteno: Bought a VW?" (logansteno)

I had to PDI a Cardinal Red single cab, long bed 4x4 Sierra 2500 with the 6.0L Vortec at work today. The only options were power accessories and the 7" Intellilink screen. It’s like my S10s younger, bigger, stronger cousin.
I’d do very bad things to have this. Besides pay the $40,000 on the window sticker.

Jeez that’s a lot of money for that truck. Trucks are stupidly expensive.

Cars in general are. A stupid little Encore I PDI’d yesterday that was one trim level up from base with cloth/vinyl seats, no sunroof, no nav, and the old 1.4T was like $27k.

Bummer. Living in Canada makes the stupid prices worse, too.

Funny, today for work I borrowed a Cardinal Red single cab long bed, 4x4 Silverado 2500 6.0L Vortec, with the same options, (basically none). Overall a nice truck, felt slow though, and wandered way too much on the highway but I liked it.

Yeeep. I bet someone could get it OTD for more like $32k though.

I noticed you really had to rev the truck to get anything out of it. This one didn’t have any wandering issues, but damn did it bounce around a lot.

That’s true, but then there’s also those stupid rebates that nobody qualifies for.

Sweet truck. Still having trouble wrapping my head around truck prices these days.

The duramax moves this truck pretty well. I have noticed that the trottle is quite stiff and you have to actually press it fairly hard to get much of a response.

At 40k it seems worth it to spring for the duramax.

I dunno, the Duramax itself almost adds $10k to the price.

Pretty much every car I’ve PDI’d has given me some form of sticker shock so far. The Terrain SLT V6 I did this morning was over $35k.

I was pricing 2wd reg cab diesels all day under $45k

Crazy. Only 10 years ago the sticker price on my crew cab Sierra was under $28k (and I was out the door for under $22k). I know the new ones are nicer, but they aren’t THAT much nicer and it hasn’t been long enough to fully blame inflation.

I was surprised, I’ve driven several of the new GM trucks and didn’t have much a problem, but this one felt like the steering wheel wasn’t connected for the first 15 degrees of movement.
