How hard would it be to put a 5 cylinder Quattro system from a 4000 or something into a Coupe B2 to make a poor man’s Ur-Quattro?

Remember the Audi Coupé Quattro? That’s an Audi Coupé sold from the factory with the Quattro full-time 4WD system, it just didn’t have the turbocharger.

Intriguing. Wikipedia claims these are rarer than the Ur-Quattros though.

They made a quattro coupe. I’m not sure they were sold in the US, but they’re out there.

Probably been done. I’ve seen a 1.8t dropped into a coupe to replace a dead motor and V8 Audi motors swapped into smaller bodies so I’m sure its possible. At various Audi/VW meets there are all sorts of swaps. You just need the ingenuity and donor cars.

I was more curious as to whether the floor is different between the Quattro and the front wheel drive coupe. The real ambitious project would to be take the driveline out of an Audi 80 quattro and put it into the Coupe, chop 320mm out of the Coupe shell and fit the 80s windshield to create a sport quattro.

They sold even fewer of them than they did Ur-Quattros.

Yep. I owned an UrQ, and that was rare enough.

That’s awesome. Though for what I would do I would rather not start with a real Ur to make some bastard rally replica.

I also have a 4000Q with a cage in it that I should really sell...

There was a 4000 at the O’Neil rally sprint this year. Sadly the fuel pump fried itself into a short circuit before I was able to get a video of the glorious noises it was making.(I was working the first stage before being able to spectate the second before going back to work the third. it died right in front of me on the first pass through the second stage)
