And 2,387 laps later, we took 3rd place!

Our first kart definitely had the best livery.

One of the best times I’ve ever had doing anything racing related. Also, one of the most exhausting. Everything is sore, and I only did an hour and a half in the kart myself. Our finisher did the final hour and fifty minutes nonstop! Ridiculous.

And we still got beat by a bunch of 11-17 year old boys and girls. Haha But they’re all part of the Ohio Valley Karting Club, so they were really damn fast. I’m okay with it.

We got the best prize though. A day of outdoor karting practice at G & J Kartway with the Racing 4 Vets karting team! Very much looking forward to that.

I only knew two guys on our team prior to the race. We basically all assembled on Facebook, from a few connections among the group and a few randoms. Not too shabby for a bunch of autocrossers and some motocross guys. haha

They’ll likely be doing another one next fall! They also run 2 and 6 hour events more frequently. I’m sure some other tracks run enduro races too, although 24 hour races are probably a bit less common.

I need to find a place near me and see if they run enduros. Then I need to find people who are as dumb as I am. How many drivers did you run in the 24 hours?

I’m pretty sure we had the largest team with 12 drivers, and we still had 2 other people, a boy who couldn’t have been older than 12 and a girl who was probably 14 or 15, sub-in for a few stints. haha (both of them ended up putting down some of the fastest times) Most teams had less and had people sub-in as well.

Oooo, The place nearest to me does a 200 lap enduro (1000ft track so ~37mi) every 3 weeks. I would do that solo.

And F1 boston does 90min and 3 hour races with a blurb saying they are planing a 24 hour event.

That’d be pretty tough. That’s definitely more than an hour in the kart. Probably between hour and half to two. Might need to check the rules too. Most enduros require at least two drivers and a certain number of stops.

Right now I am intrigued by F1 Boston’s 3 hour enduros (the site also says they are planning longer events too). Might be really cool to grab the NE Oppos and go make an Oppo endurance team.

I did a 6 hour enduro at Full Throttle a few years back. It’s much more brutal than I thought it would be. I think I did a little over an hour total. I had some friends racing in the one this weekend, but yeah, I’m too much of a wimp to do one of those again.

Nice! Full Throttle is legit. I need to get into their winter racing leagues while I still work close by! I was hoping to try and do a few of their smaller enduros, but unfortunately i am the only racing nut in my group of friends haha. Good job finishing 3rd!

Haha, you got it worse than I did... but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. Mostly my arms, neck, and (finally!) my back. Loading and unloading my tires tonight is going to be rough!

Yeah, lower back, mainly on the sides, is definitely the worst for me. Then my neck thanks to that broadside into the wall out of the sweeper on the Adrenaline side of full.

Was gonna take the rest of my suspension home and get it off my desk at work, but I think I’ll wait a couple more days.

Yeah, it’s the constant leaning into the turns that wore me out. Also, it’s kind of stressful to be that intense for that long. I’m not a very laid back racer apparently.

I kept trying to remind myself to keep my hands loose, but it’s tough when you’re spending almost the entire time on the ragged edge.
