About $1,500 too much, but still looks really clean.

I dunno my man, if you’re going to pay top dollar for a 15 year old Taco (as all Taco buyers are forced to do), throw a few extra grand at it and get one with less miles.

There’s a dealer a few hours from me that specializes in lower mileage trucks, but there’s just so few 5 speed 4x4 V6 trucks out there that I’m not sure how picky I can be.
My max is around $12,000.
And like I found this: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/685264091/overview/
But the frame is probably rotted out.

I should also mention that I’m also looking at gen 2 trucks, but I don’t want to go over a certain threshold because I don’t want to finance such an old truck.
Like, if I could find a good gen 2 with under 150,000 miles for like $15,000 I’d be interested. But a gen 1 in really good cosmetic shape with 180,000 miles for $10,000 I’d probably take also.

I see, I see.
Please don’t think of me as critical; pretty much every vehicle I’ve bought has had very high miles. But that’s a byproduct of my low standards, low budgets, and low personal vehicle usage. Just would hate for you to shell out that kind of coin on something you’re going to drive often and hit 300k sooner than you had anticipated.
Edited for bad spellz and grahammer

I don’t see it as critical, haha. I take it as good advice, since you’re my go-to Toyota guy.
I’d be keeping it for ehhhh around 5 years. I drive only about 5,000 miles a year. Like I’ve had the Jetta for like 8 months and I only have 6,000 miles on it. But I did a lot of long distance travel this year in particular.

A quick googleing tells me the most common failure point for the rust was right behind the cab.

I gis’d it. Lots of broken in half trucks haha.
I think the warranty was like 15 years after purchase date or something, but best case scenario I’d find one that’s already been fixed.
