Like this, but not this exact one.
We have a blue Honda Odyssey with 200k on it that is being donated to a local public radio’s capital campaign on Monday. We bought it new 10 years ago, so it’s seen a lot with us. How do we send it off the right way?
In over 10 years, it’s only let us down once.

I find the fact that none of that gear is strapped down very stressful.

Take it out on the highway late tonight, and take it up to it’s speed limiter. That will clean out some of the carbon that’s developed during those 200k miles.

It depends on the car, I’ve handed over the keys and cried as it left when it was my first car. Others I’ve celebrated getting rid of and others it’s been a loving pat and a gentle goodbye and thanks.

Heh, I was in exactly the same situation not too long ago. Sadly, there wasn’t much left to do a sendoff; we left it because the infamously shit Honda V6 transmission failed. again.

I like the idea of getting it to the speed limiter but assuming you have kids that sounds pretty risky... If I were you I’d get a sitter for a few hours, fill a nalgene bottle with vino, drive out to somewhere scenic to watch the stars with your significant other, and wax poetic about the past ten years... And as a bonus you’ll probably get it in tonight!
