The Leafs got their asses handed to them on a silver platter last night.
Oh yeah, and the election. This is what comes of throwing your vote away at the wrong time, people. A small chunk of those GJ votes would have Florida blue, along with several others. Instead you now have a self-obsessed intolerant incompetent asshole who is highly likely to bring international relations down in a heap around him for the next 4 years. And your neighbors to the north don’t appreciate that. So, all those who want out, better make for the worlds longest undefended border before we build a wall to keep Trump out and make you pay for it.

This year the team is looking damn good though. I mean, sure they had a blowout against Tampa, but they at least scored. They’ve had goalie issues, but Andersen has been looking stellar his last few games. And against the top team, the Habs, they held it to 2-1... Weber and Price(!) notwithstanding. The third period woes seem over, heck even last night they picked up the pace in the 3rd instead of trailing off.
And yet.

Shaming people for the way they voted undermines the democracy. And frankly those who voted third party are far less to blame than those who voted Red. Just throwing that out there.
Everyone has a right to vote however they damn well please.
If you end up voting against instead of for someone, something is broken and needs fixing, and nothing will get fixed so long as you’re continuing to vote against candidates instead of for them.

What I’m saying is this. The roof doesn’t leak when it doesn’t rain. The time to get up and fix the roof isn’t in the middle of a thunderstorm. It’s after the storm has passed (or mostly passed). What to do during the storm is run around with buckets keeping the water off the floor.
In other words, when you have a choice between, say, Bush/Gore or Obama/McCain, vote third party so they get funding next time, giving you a third way out. When you have Trump/Clinton... vote least worst.

Price is amazing. I’m going to draw kind a ridiculous comparison here, given that one is consistently awesome and the other is only on average “good”, but bear with it... In recent games Andersen has posted similar numbers to Price at his finest. But... when he get those numbers, he’s fighting tooth and nail for them. Price... he goes out there and posts those numbers with what looks like no effort. Watching him is like... well, best way I can describe it is “slow motion, but quickly”.

The Leafs are spectacular, all the time.
When they win, it’s spectacular.
When they lose, it’s spectacular.
They’re kind of like the Jays that way... my feeling on them vs Cleveland was along the lines of if anyone can come back from 0-3 in a best of 7, it would be the Jays. And if anyone could get swept... it would be the Jays.

Price looks like he’s not even trying, so calm. Price can read the game like no other.

Even though the WHC results were a bit different for Price (I mean, c’mon, he’s fresh off an injury and almost an entire season off), I can’t get over Sochi 2014. World’s best players. And Three. F*cking. Goals. Against. In the whole tournament. In Three. Separate. Games. All the rest shutouts. Including. The. Final.
Montreal doesn’t know how lucky they are. Or maybe they do. I’m in no position to judge...

Andersen is showing signs on talent. I’m just hoping that it isn’t the same modus operandi as Bernier (Let in a softie a few minutes in, and play catch up for the rest of the game)

Andersen HAS talent, full stop. You can’t make the highlight reel saves he’s made and not have talent.
But it’s kind of funny... he (thus far) makes seemingly impossible saves but will let in an easy one. It’s kind of like playing my nephew in tennis. If you try to catch him off guard or beat him with speed, often you’ll be the one to lose. If you give him nice, easy hits right to him, eventually he’ll outreach himself.

The problem is that he doesn’t always deploy that talent in concert with the defence pairings in front of him. Perhaps that’s more a getting him to gel with the defence, and will improve over time, we’ll see.
And as you said, when he is making the highlight reel saves, he’s really pushing himself. Granted he’s not going to make those saves as effortlessly as a Carey Price or a Braden Holtby would, but he *can* do it.
