My window scared me today

My driver’s side electric doesn’t like to work when it is cold. Sometimes I can bang on the top of the glass and it’ll start working, but it seems that once the interior warms up enough it’ll start working.

This morning it was well below freezing and banging it did not bring it back. Every once in awhile I’ll hit the button a few times to see if it works now.

I am driving down a stretch of road rocking out to my tunes, with both hands on the wheel, the window drops 2" and I nearly pissed my pants. Then I spoke aloud to no-one-in-particular, “Well I guess my window works now.”

I have a similar issue in the winter.  I’ve found a little silicone spray near the lower eather strip keeps them from doing that. Which is good, because when mine gets stuck it ‘trips’ the auto up/down system, and I have to go through a reset process before they work again.

Base models 4EVA! I’ve got those crank-y doodads on my ‘09 Accent that you spin with your hand to open my windows....never had this problem! :P

My old Subie with power windows did though...

Our base Soul has power windows and locks.

I think my car was one of the last ones to have no power locks/mirrors/windows on a base model in North America.....I can’t think of any nowadays that don’t. Maybe some of those ‘stripper’ model Nissan Micras you can sporadically find, but that’s about all I can think of!
