Apparently there are hundred of fires burning all over East Tennessee and Kentucky. The effect of that is the entire area looks foggy when it is actually smoke. This view is normally perfectly clear. If I were looking the other way on a normal day you can see the Smokey Mountians which is a 45 minute drive.
Also my clothes smelled like smoke after just walking to and from class today. The nearest fire is 40 or so miles away and the Cumberland Plateau and the Smokey Mountians are keeping it in. I can feel a migraine coming on as a result. Please rain. Please.

I just wish people had more common sense. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if it hasn’t rained in a while, you don’t need to start a fire, even if you are itching to see how big of fireball Bubba’s 44" Super Swamper makes.

Ah, they could have pulled a Florida. Where the government forest agency does controlled burns on advisory days. Yes. Yes they do.

I was able to smell the fire from that pipeline for a day or so.

In California they used to do burns in the Sierra Nevadas. Stopped doing it in the last decade and it’s causing a Tom of problems with the ecosystems. Pine nuts aren’t sprouting, brush is growing out of control. We need to help nature do what it would normally do if houses weren’t at risk.
