"Dogapult" (dogapult)

(Porsche in progress, in Back Puss Yard)
Off on the rails! Time to get out of the mountains, and take the bullet train towards Nagoya!
Not Fuji-san, but a cool view from the train nonetheless.
At the train station in Okazaki, we had a surprise guest. Oppo’s own Flavien Vidal met us at the station with his gorgeous factory-turbo RE-Amemiya-tuned SA22C.
He refers to this car as “Spacious and reliable.”
At that point, we somehow managed to cram the three of us and all our luggage into that car, and headed out to a friend of his’s shop.
Yup. That’s what he called it.
There really was a crazy collection of cars there.
From Fairladies,
To Goddesses,
Racing Renaults,
Amazing Panhards, (Which Flavien notes I pronounce incorrectly)
4x4 Pandas,
Blue wedges,
Type 34s,
and Wankel-powered NSUs.
Flavien ushered us inside the building. All I’ll say is the Japanese are a lot more trusting than I would be if it were my shop.
The owner of this shop loved bikes, but that Z50 was NOT for sale, I was told.
Old Daihatsus are really forgotten these days, but this thing was in really good shape.
I’ve been told this Lancia is sold.
It is extremely rare to find Japanese text on cars. You could tell this was something special.
The place had a quite a bit of clutter, but that only added to the charm.
“This was the owner’s daily driver for a while.”
All these cars had the keys in the ignitions, even the ones outside!
It took a little effort, but the 360 fired up in a small cloud of blue smoke.
That little 2-stroke actually worked pretty well!
Next stop, we visited a location where a few cars just sat derelict. “He won’t sell any of them.” Flavien mentioned.
From sad little Mazdas...
To Abandoned Benzes
Gorgeous Guigaros
and Unfortunate blueburds and 2CVs
Tommi Makinen edition Evos are unheard of in the US, but this guy was just dropping his kids off at the mall!
At this point, we had to stop at one of Japan’s famous car accessory shops, AutoBacs, and man did we find some good stuff.
There were a LOT of in-car cameras.
These seat covers had fake leather and punching!
Have you ever seen this many air fresheners?
Air freshener names. Presented without comment.
Even among Japanese cars and the surroundings, I still doubt Flavien’s comment about his RX-7 being “spacious.”
We visited a scrapyard that would barely sell anything, but man they had some cool stuff.
A rare Mazdaspeed AZ-1, on top of a Mini.
2 door Amazons, 280ZXs, Bathtub Porsche replicas...
Classic Celicas
Toyota Corona?
Figaros, Be-1s, Beats. It’s a shame. They’re all scrap. Nothing we can do.
At that point, we went and got some dinner, discovered there wasn’t much night-life in Okazaki, and made plans for tomorrow.
Toyota Museum bound!

So... First and foremost, my car IS spacious, practical and somewhat reliable. It’s a fact that is not to be discussed.
Other than that... nice! :)
Always cool to meet people here. Okazaki’s night life is indeed not really fantastic, but it’s filled with automotive stuff, in and around the city, that are worth watching.
Also, none of the bikes are for sale actually. He is a bit of a bike hoarder. Especially since he barely rides, but owns AT LEAST 20 bikes total.
Also, you’re being a bit nice with the “small cloud of smoke” produced by the 360... Good thing the neighbours are used to stuff like that lol.
And yes, the Lancia is sold :)

Yay, Panda 4x4! And Japanese Keis for the one, especially the classics! :D
That is an awesome old Daihatsu...anybody know what model it is? It looks like a Fellow Max, but it doesn’t seem quite right to me....maybe the angle or something?

Awesome, thought so! Something about the angle just looked off from my perspective, so I guess I am just crazy! :P
The Fellow Max is one of my fav classic Keis, especially the coupe variant:

If I had a place to put it, a full time job and the money, I would definitely consider it, although parts would be nigh on impossible to get for it here in Canada....
I’ll go for my FIAT 126p import first! :P Although....are there any LHD classic Pandas over there for reasonable prices? XD

Well, the Panda that is pictured is cheap and with low mileage, but with shipping and all, I think it’s just too expensive. And I’ll probably get it for my wife when she’ll need a car so... :)
