Gone are the days where they’d just lengthen the roof and not even change the doors

I’ll take either
I’m not picky
Hell, I’ll even take their SUV counterpart!

You wonder why they didn’t just use wagon doors on the sedan, it’s not like it would have broken up graceful curves...

Sat in one of these at the local auto show today (fully loaded S90 Inscription), thought the interior was really nice and comfortable.
My only complaint was that the center console was a little on the wide side, to the point that it’s taken a bit of hiproom away on the driver’s side, but the passenger’s side was fine.
Also, shock factor: i8 and NSX showed up. Wasn’t expecting either one at all.

The pulsing trunk/wagon made me think of it.

That S90 vaguely looks like an Audi A7.

These door/roof lines are actually a longstanding design quirk on Volvos, they finally made an effective solution on the 850 but soon after Volvo just used separate arrangements instead. See link.
