One of the Netherlands’ best contributions to motorsports perhaps?

If you’d understand the commentary it would even get better. There is one of the ‘Achteruit race’ (reverse race) with the Dafs where the commentator is exclaiming things like: “Oh no, my lawn..” it’s pretty hilarious.

Pretty sad to see all those Dafs (and the other classics) get destroyed though, but they were just cheap old pieces of junk at the time, which happened to be able to do the same speed in reverse as in drive.

And now they’re all impossible to find in good condition.

Yeah, that’s really a shame.

Good Dafs are getting rare, though €3000,- still gets a decent driving one here in the Netherlands, as long as you don’t care for a specific type. This is mostly due to the fact that there is almost no international interest for them.

I really want a 55 coupe at some point, preferably a Marathon, but they were and still are extremely rare.

I’ve always liked the daffodil versions the most. The later cars are probably better drivers, but less unique looking.

The daffodils are great too, the hood is a great design, showing how low that engine is. But especially the early ones look a bit oddly finished in reality. But I’m partial to the elegance of the Michelotti-designed 55 coupe, it’s a more balanced design in my opinion.

This Daf talk makes me want to visit the Daf museum again soon. It’s not weird that I’ve been there 4 times already, right?

I would go many times if I were within driving distance.

Not at all, enough to be found in France, Belgium and the Netherlands, prices range from a 1000 to 6000 euros. There may be a YA66 in my future.
