It’s a wrap. On airbags too. I love it,the stock wheels and body really set it off.

I like. but... as an American all I see is a 4 door Pontiac GTO. I want a Yute, in that color.

It looks like a mid-late 2000's Saturn with ‘04 GTO front fenders and hood...

How DARE you!

It looks like a 4-door GTO because it is!

I like the SS-V from like 06, but that is a G8 (basically) by then

Kinja'd!!!

But the 04 is awful!! The front is clearly GTO/Monaro, the center is very Saturn SL2 of that same era, and the rear looks like that era Coralla with the wing and tail lights.

A Commodore is not G8, a G8 is a Commodore. The Commodore came first, made in Australia for Australia!

The front is meant to be GTO/Monaro, the Monaro was built off the Commodore at the time. It’s little more than a Commodore coupe. As for the Corolla remark, I do see the resemblance.

I quite like both, but the VE is a really good looking car.

Ps. The cars you’re showing are VE and VY/VZ respectively, it’s clearer than referring to them by years :)

I am aware of their heritage. I’m a bit of a Pontiac and Holden fan boy. I just mean that the ve model is not an attractive vehicle. the vy/vz or g8 here actually looks good.

The ve while being a precursor to the monaro and gto looks better as the coupe then a 4 door. It’s proportions are all wrong

I think the VE is maybe the best looking of the lot!

The Monaro is based off the VX, well before the VE - the Monaro is the precursor.

Lol, I got my codes backwards in the last comment. Swap them and then my comment makes sense. I was late and I’d been drinking at that point.

Yes I like the VE a lot. Ugg, I am disappointed in GM for ruining another car line.

Haha, that’s fine. The ol’ drunk commenting.

It’s a damn shame. I think the VF goes pretty well too, but it’s on death’s door.

I think the VF is one of the best looking cars available right now. Especially in the powerful family saloon category. And Commodore is a way better name than calling it a SS. I mean come one Chevy, the SS is a trim level not a model. I mean the Chevy Commodore would have worked great.

Also I think the SS got a better front facia, but I prefer the VF fender mark

Kinja'd!!!

But you guys get better tail lights (and badging) so the rear end looks nicer

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

But then you have so many trim levels and a fucking wagon!! I don’t quite understand the Calais though.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

The best though is the Holden Special Vehicles though. I mean they are perfect. “You have a great car there Holden, but lets put a LSA in there instead.” said HSV

You’re right about everything. All of it.

They really never did commit to a proper American line-up. The car there always felt like an afterthought :(

The Calais is the luxury trim. For those who don’t want to go for the LWB Statesman/Caprice.

Yes! They did everything wrong. All they was to poor advertising. GM can sometimes be too big a a machine and I wish they had committed to Pontiac being the US Holden. It would have been spectacular. But its like hoe they put the GTO fuel tank in the trunk because they didn’t want to make the under car tank work for crash standards. Thus the trunk in miniscule.

Ok, thats what I though the Calais was, but I wasn’t sure since it looked more plain, but cost more.

:O Is that right? Different to the Holden I presume? Pfft. Yet another example of America over-regulating a car that the rest of the planet is happy with.

I guess it’s a weird sort of model - trying to dress up a Commodore, but dress it up differently to the sporty models, and in a way that says luxury.

No not over regulating, just GM cutting corners. It was easier to put the tank in the car so when it ruptures the gas stays in the car instead of spilling. I believe it was a ploy to save money in crash tests. Though we do WAY over regulate vehicles.

But surely the car had already been crash tested! They’re cheaping out to avoid doing something that’s already been done! I guess they felt they had to re-test it, and that they didn’t want to. :\

Well the car needed to pass US crash testing whether or not it passes AU testing.
