Thanks for the carburetor suggestions, Oppo. Have some neat things I found recently.

I don’t know. It Needed a cell that looked like a nine volt but had terminals on both ends. I have a 1960's era Civil Defense survey meter (tops out at 500 rads per hour!) that takes the same type of battery. I think it’s a 6 volt cell. I didn’t buy it, so if you’re interested, it’s probably still there.

Just curious, that is pretty cool.

That takes a dry cell 6, 9, or 12 volt battery they can be hard to get.

The solution to that problem is to make an adapter allowing you to use modern cells in the old spot.

That is one solution but then you can’t carry it around like a badass.

Absolutely. I’ve thought about incorporating the survey meter, an old WWII Belgian motorcycle trenchcoat I have, and an as-yet-unpurchased gas mask into a kick-ass Halloween costume. I don’t actually know if the meter works. I bought it as a historical curiosity.

Those field-strength monitors (if that’s what that is) are beautiful in their design. My dad has two of them from a previous job.
