Anyone have experience with the current gen Sentra? How is it? Not looking for armchair opinions, looking for real experience.

I rented one....it’s dangerously slow. I live in the mountains and it can’t get out of it’s own way up here (7,000ft) and even driving it up the highway to get here i had to floor it to maintain 70mph in most spots with a grade......passing trucks is almost impossible on a grade. Handling is poor, but factory tire selection doesn’t help that much.

Very on both fronts.

It can’t be that bad. My 96 Corolla is the living embodiment of gutless (four gear changes to hit 60, lol). I refuse to believe any popular compact built past 2k6 is slower than what I’ve got. There are dump trucks that have outrun me...

If the CVT in it is anything like the one in the Altima, it will probably be Mirage slow, in which case you might as well just get a Mirage because it’s cheaper, lighter, and comes in neon colors.

The Nissan has 500+lbs of extra weight on your Corolla and only 20hp....it’s slower.

The Datsun CVT is the devil’s transmission. It converts power into disdain.

Experience: I’ve driven probably every one in Enterprise Rent a Car’s North Carolina fleet at least once for as much as an hour at a time.
New models have a lot of toys in them to detract from how ugly and poorly proportioned they look. Keyless entry, push button start, backup cameras, stereo isn’t horrible. Driving position is terrible though, and good luck getting the wheel to come far enough out of the dashboard. Keep the CVT in sport mode and you can drive it pretty reasonably, i.e. you will be able to sucessfully merge at 70 at the bottom of an on ramp.
All in all, there is no good reason to buy one when you can buy a year old Altima SL and get the same gas mileage and more space.

I had one as an Uber one time. It was meh. Reminded me of a corolla. Friend had an 08 SE-R in high school and hated it.

Based on a rental experience, I found it terrible. Chintzy inside and one of the least responsive new cars I’ve ever driven. Handling wasn’t completely miserable, though.
