The Allroad is hemorrhaging dino blood at an alarming rate. A very alarming rate. Like I dont know if I want to move thing thing. I cant tell where its coming from. Everything is brown and shiny. I cleaned off what I could. It seems to be coming from the drivers side above the oil pan and/or from the rear main seal. i’ve had a small leak from the passenger side bit that was tiny and i think its the cam seal. this seems to be more the other side and much lower as its not smoking up

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I saw the spots on the driveway and that’s what tipped me off. I looked under and saw drip drip drip. I checked the oil level and it looks normal so what the fuck. I’m pretty sure it is not the oil pan gasket

Edit: the front has been up in a set of ramps for about 45 minutes and i have oil on the driveway all the way back to the cats

Get the front end on jack stands, thoroughly clean everything and let it sit overnight if you can. You’ll get a better idea of just how bad it is that way. Ita probably not as bad as you think. A few ounces of oil on concrete looks as if it’s a LOT more.

sounds like a used audi being a used audi... honestly, I don’t know much about these things but I figure it would probably be an expensive proposition to fix it

I was making a reference to my own fluid-related woes that I’ve certainly posted about on Oppo before.

I saw big spots when I got home so I looked under and saw dripping. I cleaned it off and it’s already covered again

Recently resurfaced blacktop driveway. As in 2 weeks prior. Spilled about 16 ounces of used oil on it.

2.7t I assume? If so the cam seal / valve seal are the common culprit. A friend had them both done at a local Indy Audi shop for 600$ can. Not the worst diy either. Be strong c5 brother!

I know I have a cam seal issue but I’m pretty sure this is something else. It’s much lower, closer to the bottom. The cam seal needed a bunch of special tools and isnt am easy job

Crankshaft maybe? Good luck! The person that told me it was not too bad, is a b5 s4 stage 3+ guy that keeps a spare engine on a stand for a “quick” swap when he breaks it. So definitions may vary lol

This being a notorious used German car, I’m assuming there is a lost compiled of common oil leaks . Do you happen to know what they are ? Or do you have more pictures so maybe I can point you in the right direction .

Kinja'd!!! OPPOsaurus WRX > His Stigness
11/03/2016 at 21:20

Kinja'd!!!0

The best I can tell is its coming from above the oil pan but I can’t see where. The sway bar and a large black metal cross member is blocking my view. Drivers side

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > OPPOsaurus WRX
11/03/2016 at 21:53

Kinja'd!!!0

Driver’s side front or rear? I’m assuming front of the engine since you said sway bar.

Kinja'd!!! OPPOsaurus WRX > His Stigness
11/03/2016 at 22:37

Kinja'd!!!0

To the rear. My leading guess is the engine-transmission seal.

Kinja'd!!! OPPOsaurus WRX > His Stigness

Kinja'd!!!0

If u look at the picture underneath you can see the sway bar behind the oil pan. There’s seems to be a darker collection of oil to the far rear of the pan. I don’t think it the pan it seems to be. Coming from above that but not much higher

I Read that as cam shaft. I’ll investigate crack shafts more. You could be on to something

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > OPPOsaurus WRX

If you think it’s the rear main seal then look for the access port for the flywheel bolts and try and look behind it (you’ll have to turn the engine probably) and see if it’s wet.

strip the engine, replace all the gaskets and use the best quality sealant. otherwise you’ll only be chasing your tail.
