To save costs they made it an 8+4 setup rather than a 2x6 which would involve grinding completely custom cams and crank rather than welding.

I always wondered why they didn’t try to adapt a crankshaft from a V12 engine to run with the LS12 motor?

An Aussie shop turned 2 LS engines into a V12. A shop in Seattle did one a few years ago.

I’m assuming that that is the car with the LS V12. Two engines sliced and diced and then spliced.
