These headlights kinda suck. I saw jqj’s LED headlight swap and that gave me some hope, but then I remembered that with these housings any brighter light ends up blinding everyone. So does anyone have advice as to how to upgrade the headlights? Or am I stuck with them?

Just bolt more lights on.
Or explain me a thing, why do your lights suck?

LED or HID upgrades in reflector-style housings can blind folks, yes, but you can usually get brighter halogens and still be safe - maybe look into one of the higher brightness halogen replacements? Sylvania? Philips? Etc?
You could also get a set of driving lights installed to augment your headlights (fairly bright lights that come on with your high beams but go off with your low beams - they are legal in most places).

I really like the lights on the Note, or maybe I was used to cars with shitty lights. You could try to get the Nismo lights but that might be expensive.

Bake the lights to get the lenses off, install projector units in the housing, reassemble the lenses. Alternately, get OEM projector housings.

They’re not bright enough to me.

I haven’t been able to find Nismo headlights, and someone did tell me that JDM headlights have different cutoffs.

But how? Low beams? High beams? Dark spot in the beam spread?

Get some Osram bulbs from the old country and see if that fixes what ails you prior to doing anything drastic.

The low beams aren’t incredibly bright, and they don’t seem to extend that far in front of the car either.
Can’t speak for high beams as I don’t use them.

I had the same problem. My plan was to upgrade to E-codes (i.e. Euro-spec headlights, which have a superior beam pattern) at the first possible opportunity. However, my existing bulbs burned out before that opportunity came...
I then found the brightest, highest-quality bulb available in the (existing) OEM size and installed them... The difference was insane! I don’t want E-codes anymore.
Moral of the story: OEMs use the crappiest bulb possible! Just upgrade to the highest-quality bulbs (Phillips, Osram, etc.) available in the size your existing headlamps take, and your headlights will no longer suck.

Can you swap in the 9012 or 9011 bulbs? I did that to replace the Oem bulbs that were in our new Pacifica. I don’t remember the original bulb number but it was a 900x and the 9012 and 9011 bulbs are a bit brighter and can be fitted with minor cutting of the tabs on the base of the bulb.
And you want the Wagner bulbs for some reason as they are supposedly the better bulb.
It improved our vans lighting, so might be worth a look. Cheap too $4 a bulb on amazon.

Have you checked their height adjustment? Might be the best thing to try first.

Yeah, you don’t want headlights from RHD countries like Japan, due to the beam pattern - cutoffs are set to illuminate things to the right of the road in LHD countries, but using RHD headlights (which illuminate to the left) will blind oncoming drivers.

Don’t go higher on wattage, though, that’s a good way to melt headlights and wiring...

Thank you for being considerate and not blinding people. This is my biggest automotive pet peeve (or as George Carlin says, I don’t have pet peeves, I have things that really piss me the fuck off). I agree to try bulbs first. It’s relatively cheap and easy to try.

Yep! I realized I forgot to mention the replacement bulbs must be within the same mfg specs and 100% legal. Tire Rack makes things too easy sometimes hehe
