Can I tier that with the EK9 Civic Type-R or the Peugeot 205 GTi?

I think the Mazda 323GTX would have been a competitor

It’s more like the JDM equivalent of the 205 T16...

The 205 is a bit too small to compare. If you see one in real life next to the Pulsar/Sunny it appears quite a bit smaller.

The EK9 Type-R is closer in size, but it’s around ten years newer and isn’t a Group A homologation special or AWD.

If you want a closer benchmark: the Lancia Delta Integrale , Ford Escort RS Cosworth and Toyota Celica GT-Four are much closer in purpose, age, size and performance. There are more specific cars like the 323 GTX and early Imprezas and Evos too.

The EG6 would have been more contemporary, but a little below performance-wise.

Not sure about that myself.

The GTi-R was Group A while the T16 was Group B, it wasn’t mid-engined like the T16 either.

From what I see, the GTi-R is a hot hatch, but the T16 is a crazy rally supercar in the approximate shell of a hot hatch.

Well, both are homologated to their respective rally groups, and have drivetrains that are not the same as their base model counterparts.

Then again, it can be the JDM Escort Cosworth.

From what I see, all three are road-legal rally cars.

I completely agree, I just personally find it to be another tier of the ‘road-legal rally car’ catergory. Kind of like comparing an Evo with a Stratos.
