If I was American and having to make the choice between Trump and Clinton... I’d vacate the country and sell oranges by the side of the road to make a living.

I’m considering putting a mark down for Gary purely as a protest vote.

Well I understand that viewpoint, that said it ultimately wouldnt affect anything. Here in the UK I wasnt enthralled with either major party but I just voted for the least worst. If I was american I’d have to go Clinton but I wouldnt be happy about it.

I guess I figure a vote for the Independent candidate shows up on the radar better than a no vote.

And to see Bill as first man/husband....

My vote counts. As a result, I’ve been junkmail’d relentlessly. My favorite thus far is the one telling me not to waste my vote on Deez Nuts or Sweet Meteor O’ Death.
For realsies.

It doesn’t matter anyway. Trump won’t go away if he loses. He’ll just get louder.
Maybe if he is president, he’ll have something to do- other than annoy us 24/7.

The name of the group that paid for that flyer is called the LVC Victory fund. After a quick google, I learned that LVC stands out for League of conservative voters

I guess they could be faking it but it seems unlikely?the website for the fund only has a form to let you donate. the LVC website is normal, and mentions the victory fund, so I believe it to be a real thing.

so I took a closer look, and I totally misread this. LVC stands for the League of conservation voters, not conservative. and they did indeed endorse Clinton. they are an environmental group.

That’s not truth, that’s ridiculous! The USA didn’t need Putin’s help to make a mockery of American democracy. That was done by our own people in both major parties.

I’m not saying we needed Putin’s help, but can’t argue that it’s true that he “loves the idea of damaging the reputation of American democracy”, whether he’s active in that process or not. He just likes anything that makes us look bad and drops us down a rung or two when it comes to international respect and influence.

Meh, that’s conjecture. I don’t buy into simplistic explanations for what motivates people. I’ve read a lot on him and he seems to be way too pragmatic to risk doing that. Russia, while still strong, is not nearly what it was when it was part of the USSR. Put can’t match the US pound for pound with his military or his economy so he has to take calculated risks. He sees that the insane fucktards in our government are trying to provoke him into attacking a NATO state despite the threat of WWIII so I don’t think he’d want to give the West the pretense to carry out a counter attack via hacking, military intervention, etc.
We don’t look bad because of anything Russia does or says. We look bad because our government supports AQ in Syria, our politicians (both parties) are corrupt as shit, and we’re heading off a financial cliff due to reckless debt-fueled endless war and crony capitalism. Our system has been a joke for at least 50 years and a total fucking joke since 9/11. That has nothing to do with Putin or Trump, we have the Bush and Clinton clans, corrupt career politicians, immoral foreign policy think tanks and NGOs, etc.
I’ve been reading every bit of news that comes out (timer permitting) and it seems more and more likely that the Wikileaks dumps didn’t come from hacking but from whistleblower leaks from the rank and file intelligence analysts within our own government:

Like I said, whether he’s an active participant or not, he has to love seeing dysfunction and corruption among our top leadership. In the end, he wants the world to see that our system of democracy is not ideal, and to keep his people content with their dictator (I think most Russians actually do love him, just not the families of the people he’s had killed). I agree that out government’s political leaders have needed no help in the past XX years to screw things up pretty royally, and that our nation’s decline is no fault but our own. Putin knows he has to play the long game, but clearly hopes to bring Russia back to its glory days as a dominant world superpower. America’s slide only makes that goal more attainable.
