Pedestrians are still largely morons around anything with wheels. 0:14 if it doesn’t work.
Side note... anyone here watch dashcam videos from their city partly to see if they got in them?

I’m really lucky to live in California. As a bicycle commuter, for the most part, people driving cars are very used to bikes here and are very courteous. That being said, there are still sometimes pedestrians who will step right out in front of me as if they have right of way. It’s so strange. Also, other bicyclists will cut me off which is doubly weird.

@2:02- That Silverado driver saw no movement after 3 seconds of green light, and was probably expecting slow/hesitant acceleration. I might have done the same thing as he in that situation. I dunno; it’s close. 2 seconds and I would have yielded; 4 seconds and I would have taken it. This one’s right on the edge.

I would rarely make the call on based on how long they sat waiting... I just feel like the longer they sit the closer I get to that moment when they realize what they’re doing and rug it. Because that’s what I would do. Reality is most people who sit that long aren’t going to accelerate quick, but my brain doesn’t believe that.
I tend to make the call based on the vehicle and what little I could see of their driving. Might sound like a worse way, but I’d argue they’re about the same. Add a slight hesitation to a hunch and it’s mine. But I tend to make my mind up before the light even goes green, so I‘m ready to go.
On the other hand, I prefer not to do it at all...

They still have the right-of-way, so that should always be kept in mind at these encounters.
But at some point you have to decide whether they’re trying to let you through, or if they’re just not paying attention. Then it becomes a choice between beeping the horn to alert them or just going. Sometimes proceeding out-of-turn is better than a game of hesitation where everybody loses.

Just found a few from my city. Been watching them and nothing great.
Reading some of the comments I’ve come across a term used for Audi drivers Audiots.

I am the primary dash cammer from my city, but yeah I’ve watched a couple of the other ones. Never been in one despite my best efforts.
