About the 2012 or 2013 Mazda Speed3.
The particular one in the picture is a 2012 with 52k miles, priced at 14,900 (no dealer fees), clean CarFax and 4 previous owners.

The previous Gen looked better.

4 owners? That seems like a lot for a car that is only 4 years old.

Torque steer is marginally better than the first generation Speed 3. If you do any serious mods then you’ll need the high pressure fuel pump setup. Watch for the VVT, but that’s also more of a problem with the first gens.

Torque steer! Too much power for fwd. Fun! Every wrx or Honda owner is racing you at every stoplight. Also sore butt syndrome. Source passenger in one last year. (this isn’t true I’m just talking out my ass)

Before getting into it, head over to the Mazdaspeed Forums to look at some common issues. (here is a link: http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/forum/f511/official-i-am-looking-buy-used-mazdaspeed-100577/ )
If it still has a warranty on it from the factory then it may not be too bad. But judging from the low mileage and 4 owner history, it was probably modified and stocked out a few times before now. If you are really serious about looking at it, check for service/maintenance records for the VVT. Also upon test drive warm the car up and let it idle for a while, this will tell you if the turbo seals are leaking because it will start smoking out of the exhaust.
If you keep the mods to a minimum and do the routine maintenance, they are fairly reliable. My Speed6 hasnt had any issues in the 2 years of ownership and 30,000 miles.

All I know is that it uses a lot of Volvo C30 parts (sub-frame, control arms, mounts, etc.)

That is a huge red flag, unless it was something more complicated like it was registered to a company or something and then titled in someones name shortly after that. I doubt it, hard pass.

Have you seen the actual CarFax? Sometimes when there’s a lease or leinholder they can all be listed as different owners, even though it’s never been “owned” by anyone else.

The last 2 owners had it for a combined 2.5 years
