I randomly took this as I was leaving work on my lunch break yesterday and I like the way it turned out. And, yes. I obviously park in the back of the work parking lot all by myself.
Yesterday was a classic autumn day, weather wise (cloudy and low-60s). Now, it’s annoyingly back up to the low-80s outside. Sigh.

Every time I walk out of my parents I think, damn that is a damn good looking car.
Got the labradoodle helping me wash it.

Huh, I haven’t taken a picture of my truck in a hot second.
And since I’m probably gonna end up buying it from my brother as a fuel efficienct beater anyway....
We had replaced the badge with one that hadn’t faded to pink.

I found a friend...
Unfortunately, I also found this...
I believe this was from the shop (a dealer, no less) who did my brakes last weekend. At least I think it is, I don’t recall it being there before, but I only noticed it on Wednesday. Even if they did it, it’s honestly not worth fighting at this point. I have touchup paint to at least make it look better. At ~72,000 miles, this isn’t the first paint damage it has, and it certainly won’t be the last.

I really need to get the tinting replaced on that right front window...
Taken at a local record store that fills what was once a large public library. Cool place if you love vinyl as they have more than I have ever seen in one place. It’s also the only place where I’ve ever seen clear red records that had to be at least 18 or 20 inches in diameter. I have no idea what kind of machine it takes to play those things, but one has to be out there somewhere.

The cleanest OG Silverado in the world (last Saturday)
A military surplus Hummer showed up at work the other day. He’s going through the legalization hoops, but isn’t sure it’s going to work (Monday)

Touch up paint is a godsend. My 6 has three random gouges in the back bumper that I was able to make less apparent with factory touch up paint.

I saw my old Grand Am this week and it has been beat to shit by its current owner. Made me so sad. I even watched her back it straight over a curb when she was trying to park. Sigh.

At a show with perfect Tri-fives, hot rods and all sorts of amazing vintage tin, that Silverado floored me with how spotless it was (especilly with over 140k!). It was probably my favorite vehicle there.

Love, love, LOVE it! Very rare 6-speed manual transmission and one year only color for this model (Copper Red Mica); my local dealer estimated that there were probably between 250 and 300 built for the 2012 model year in this combination. I’ve had many cars over the decades including lots of VWs, a couple of BMWs, a W210 MBZ and a Porsche 968, yet this is the one car I want to keep forever. I may buy other vehicles in the future (probably a used Miata), but this one isn’t going anywhere; they will supplement, not supplant, this 5.
Sure, I wish I had more of the luxury goodies that I became accustomed to, but I wasn’t going to give up the 6MT to get them; most of them I’ve already added myself via Amazon and eBay. The USB/iPod interface that they introduced in the 2013 model year would have been nice to have as well, but considering that I negotiated a discount of $4K off of a $21K car (dealer’s loss-leader at the end of the model year) I figure I can live without some of the stuff from later models; I’ve designed my own controller out of spare parts (see: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/nifty-car-audio-project-hack-for-ios-and-android-1788310203 ) that gets the job done, probably not as well as the factory setup; for my listening needs, which consist mostly of podcasts, it does quite well and looks very clean.
As you see from my vehicle history, it’s been mostly expensive German stuff, but I really got tired of the lack of reliability and repair expenses and thus decided to buy new and Japanese for the first time. I figured Mazda made the vehicles that, dynamically speaking, were closest to the Germans. I had two main criteria when buying a new car: It had to be a box on wheels and it had to have a manual gearbox. This was about the only vehicle to meet my demands. It was kind of funny how I stumbled across it - I was at the car show with a friend and we needed a place to sit down and rest and so we decided to hit the first display that had a minivan. We came across the Mazda booth first and sat down in the new-for-2012 Mazda5. It wasn’t my intention to buy one, but after checking it out and talking to the staff I realized that it was just what I wanted. I purchased mine right after making a cross-country move a few months later and could not be happier.
