The design was passed on because of IP concerns with the Hella brand. I thought it might be ok on artistic license but their decision is understandable. I can throw it up on my Society6 page if there is any interest.

The second one you could probably tweak to not include the Hella branding while still being recognizable.

Parodies are ok. The issue here would be that they feature hella branding.

Great minds, haha.

I tried doing something with an arrangement of Hellas and headlights but couldn’t come to one I liked.

I also offered to remove the ‘a’ from ‘hella’, thinking car people would still get/appreciate the reference but that didn’t get me any further.

I like the top one. I’d try submitting it anyway. Maybe remove the stylized classic Hella logo and the copyright symbol to simplify the design and hopefully improve your chances.

They might think it’s a bit weird to receive such similar designs so close together though. :)

I really want to get the classic covers for the Hella 500s on my Mini but all the reviews say they disintegrate in a few months when exposed to sun.

Reason why the Camel Trophy Discovery didn’t have any branding.

Maybe just get a set and only have them on for C&C or other shows if you’re worried about their longevity. They definitely look cool, IMO.

Honestly for C&C and stuff I would like to wire them up to 6v or so to have them on but not bright paired with the parking lights. I kinda find it odd that the classic design is molded out of different plastic to the modern design (they are both still in production so its not like the classic design is old stock). I should really be thinking about fixing all the rock chips on the hood before planning how to show off the lights.

That’s not too surprising. One of Blipshift’s earliest shirts was a parody of The North Face logo and virtually right after the sale ended they changed the image and description on their site to something else (the webpage 404s now). It’s a pretty safe assumption that they got some sort cease and desist letter and now they’re scared of legal action.

It’s still my favorite Blipshift shirt though.

It’s a shame that I’ve never seen this before, I really like it. Reminds me that I need to buy a winter coat, too.

I’ve actually thought about printing one for myself because there’s no chance of it being sold again as a resto-mod.

They probably rejected it because it has a real brand name on it. Make it Hell Yeah. Hell, pitch two of them next to each other. Give everyone ‘headlights’.

You could just change it to “Hell” instead of Hella. Make it even more of a parody.

Were you pulling them on and off through those 4 years? It appears that what happens is they degrade over time and then disintegrate when you try to take them off. It also only appears to be an issue with the 500s.

Oh yeah, that’s definitely why and totally understandable. Modifying it to ‘hell yeah’ was something I offered but they chose not to take it further, which is fine.

I suggested that to them in correspondence. Didn’t get me any further. All good though, I don’t have much time tied up it this.

Ehh, I think they choose to print a lot of crap these days. I think it’s because they are trying to get a new shirt every 2 days. I like yours and think it would sell. I might be a big 2002 fan, but I couldn’t buy this one. That honestly took 5 mins in adobe illustrator.

Yeah, a lot of their designs leave me pretty underwhelmed but the odd one I can’t help but buy. On balance I think theyre a fun company though and I’ve liked their merchandise and dealing with them.
