Maybe I could take it to the EUROppo meet after all. :D
Call me ‘not a real petrolhead’, but I’m absolutely knackered just thinking about driving the Fiat 1500 km each way.

That would be an amazing entrance at the EuroOppoMeet, DO IT!

I can’t blame you for not wanting to drive a tiny fiat on the motorway for 1500km. Sounds super sketchy.

It’s not so much the size of the car, as the fact that it’s rather bouncy, slow (realistically, cruising speed is below 95 kph), and potentially unreliable.

By ‘DO IT!’ do you mean that I should drive it there or put it in the back of a van? :P

That’s a really good idea. Or you could take a bigger car down there.

The solution is to put the Fiat in the Fiat (/Peugeot/Citroën) van and drive the 1500 km. Then, at the location, use the van as a camper van to sleep in and use the 126 as a runabout.
What could possibly go wrong?

To be fair, that’s just a random photo I found of somebody puttin a 126p in the back of a van. My dad has a Ford Transit, not a Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen.
I find the whole idea that I could put my car in the back of a van and transport it halfway across Europe this way kinda amusing. I wonder if the police would be OK with that though, despite the Fiat not exceeding Transit’s allowed payload.

Trailer? Should be well within the towing limit of a Transit which is....actually, it’s hideously complicated. For the smallest and least powerful model the combined weight (van, trailer, contents) can be as small as 3500 kg. For a slightly different model with the same engine the total can be 5,500 kg for reasons that I can’t begin to understand.

That particular Transit can take a 900kg load or tow a 2t trailer. The Fiat weighs roughly 600 kg.

A trailer would be I suppose 300 or 400 kg so you’re good to go!

Unfortunately, I’m not licensed to haul a trailer big enough to put a car on. :( I’d need the E catagory on my license for that.

I can’t see how they would have an issue with it? Yes, the FIAT has gas and fluids in it...but it would on a trailer and would be no different than somebody carrying containers of fluids in their van...?
