HMS Dragon and HMS Duncan (both Type 45 frigates) met the Russian fleet as they left Norway, later HMS Duncan and HMS Richmond (a Type 23 frigate ‘shadowed’ (not escorted) the fleet through the English Channel.
Some say the Russians are testing the reactions of the NATO alliance but with the Admiral Kuznetsov (and some of the rest of the fleet) in such a bad way, it would of been somewhat crazy to risk taking the fleet north of Scotland and straight into the Atlantic. I’d imagine the fleet staying quite close to the coast but still in international waters (maybe even straying into territorial waters to see what the response is, but as it is everyone is tracking the fleet with I dare say a 50% measure of self defence and 50% preparedness for a rescue operation).

Curious if the Kuznetsov will be able to last the whole cruise. That tug crew knows it’s inevitable.

On the one hand, it would be very foolish to laugh off the Russian Navy and the threat it could represent, on the other
